About Us
Welcome To Banana Costumes
In 1992, Robert Berman created his first funny hat on Long Beach Island, NJ, selling it for $20 and a beer. Over 30 years later, with his wife Tina and sister Jodi as partners, they created Imposta Costumes who developed the original banana costume which is still on the market today. Known for their entrepreneurial spirit and creative spirit, this trio is focused on original, easy-to-wear, and hilarious costumes. Enjoy browsing our collection and hopefully wearing an Imposta Costume for your next great laugh!

OUR HISTORY

All In The Family 1995
Robert, along with the combined skills of his wife Tina and sister Jodi, began expanding the novelty hat business adding costumes to the product line. Working out of their father's warehouse, they quickly outgrew the space and eventually took over the entire building, filling it with hats and costumes.
